The Bronzeville-King Lincoln District is rich in Black history and culture dating back to the early 1900’s. Northbound Black people settled just east of downtown Columbus, Ohio and created a self-sustaining community. It centered around Black businesses, social services and a lifestyle comprising of entertainment venues, hotels, schools, churches, a hospitals and a bank. From the early 50’s to 60’s, the neighborhood declinded due to the construction of Interstate 71 and Urban Renewal. However, the Bronzeville-King Lincoln District is once again a destination spot, not just a pass-through…a place to be, remember and celebrate.
