ABOUT US
My Why…
Let me make it clear, this is not official, but I consider myself the unofficial, official ambassador of the Bronzeville/King-Lincoln District. I love my neighborhood and I am so proud of its historical presence in the lives of the many Black families that lived, worked and played just east of downtown Columbus, Ohio. Originally from Dayton, Ohio, I have lived in Columbus for the past 40 years. When my 2 children left for college and Columbus, not to return. I heard about this Black urban arts community, the King-Lincoln District where the King Arts Complex and the Lincoln Theatre reside. I love urban, I love art and I love Black, so I moved to the KLD in 2012.
Our area is being revitalized now with housing, new and renovated, restaurants, businesses, and even a Black-owned bank, one of 20 in the nation. The area is soon to be the Black mecca on Mt. Vernon Avenue and East Long Street, as it once was.
Being an avid traveler, upon arrival in a city, the first thing I ask is where are the Black community, the Black-owned boutiques, and restaurants. Being a serial entrepreneur and moved, I considered opening a culturally inspired boutique featuring creatives of color in a retail environment located in the KLD. However, I soon realized that an E-Commerce site such as this one would be a better option.
Candles? Well, I lovvvve candles. I burn them constantly and they are my gift of choice. I have partnered with a fellow women's business to make them for me. This is just the start of my offerings. More Bronzeville/KLD products will be forthcoming plus creations from other artists. Stay tuned. We be “Vibin’ in da KLD”!
